Organizations and Initiatives

There are plenty of organizations and initiatives that center Black and indigenous reproductive health. These are just a few of such organizations. Know of one not listed here? Tell me about it.

Sister Song

Based in the U.S. South and Founded by women of color, Sister Song is an organization with wide reaching programming and activism that has been distance runners in the fight for reproductive justice. In fact, these are the folks who founded the term “reproductive justice” in an effort to recenter the complex experiences of people of color for whom issues of justice and freedom extend beyond mainstream rhetoric of “choice.”

Black Women’s Health Imperative

Also based in the U.S., the BWHI has long focused (over 35 years!) on the health of Black women and girls through advocacy and policy change.
